If I was a kid or had a kid, this would be just right for successive spins on the turntable: that emphatic euphonium sound and twinkly guitar, helped by a gospel choir, adds a sugar-sprinkle of magic to the song’s message of tolerance and hope, repeating like a mantra: “don’t let your heart stop”. Piney isn’t Louis Prima but her rendition of ‘I Wanna Be Like You’ on the flipside shows what a fine singer she is, and you can almost tell her face is creased in a smile as she sings. If I was a kid, 'pop = fun' isn’t a bad lesson to learn.
