Smoke Fairies Sunshine Music For Heroes
Article written by

'Sunshine' is quintessentially English, sung in a magnificently aloof voice (shades of Vashti Bunyan maybe), whose cool reserve gradually burns off and builds towards a torrid ending full of reverberating guitars and soaring/sawing cello, that has just a hint of Led Zeppelin's explosive folkiness. If there's any justice, the video will feature Robert Johnson in the gardens of an English country house, whistling a blues and playing croquet with the devil. ‘When You Grow Old’ is the other side of the Smoke Fairies, an introspective and dark tale that will have you believing that ghosts haunt these verses.
