Spaghetti Anywhere may reside in East London these days but there’s no mistaking the frontman’s roots with their debut EP. The rolling ‘R’s and the elongated vowels all point a tartan gloved finger to Scotland’s largest city. There are also elements of many of its key movers and shakers influencing the grooves too, with the jangle of Postcard and C86 mixing with the folk pop charm of Belle & Sebastian and Camera Obscura. It’s a veritable indiepop treat, all four tracks impressing, but opener Gregory’s Girl is the one that is now getting a serious hammering on my iPod with its shuffling rhythms, uplifting brass and a glorious catchy 80s pop chorus. All in all a wee bit special.
