The Gories
Be Nice Third Man Records 7”

The first new material by the Gories in 20 long years (not counting the amazing live album from 5/27/88 released on Third Man in 2014) and just as fine as when they left off. ‘Be Nice’ is their version of a song originally recorded by a gang of Fort Worth 14 year olds called The Nomads (and comped on Back To The Garage Volume 2). Like a feral Beatles, this has an insane guitar solo, raw vocals and a primitive beat that speaks to the caveman in your soul. ‘On the Run’ on the flip is a Collins/Kroha composition with an evil bluesy riff, rasping solos and a backbeat that lays down an endless road for the guitarists to play on. Awesome then, awesome now.
