The Kiara Elles
Odio EP Vandal Records 7”

Article written by Ged M - Dec 1, 2009

I’ve always thought 'Odio' was a brilliant song, ever since seeing them play it live and hearing it (in demo form) on the CD that came with Thee Humbug #5, back when they were still called The Chiara Ls. The only downside of its hyperactive, edgy dance-influenced indiepop is that it's taken so long to release that it doesn’t have the same impact as if it had come out two or three years ago. Still, a good record is a good record and this is superior to much of the current guitar pop scene. The EP is full of similar frenetic rhythms, part Le Tigre dance pop ('Supergroupie') and part Blue Orchids post-punk ('Rust') but it's 'Odio' that has the magic.
