Already Warm Captured Tracks 7”

A collaboration between the Dum Dum Girls and Blank Dogs, this would fit perfectly into a Peel show in the 80s – ‘Already Warm’ is a culture clash of Joy Division grinding post-punk darkness and the soaring indie of the Cocteau Twins, where the contrasting effects work really well together. I found it initially strange and clashing but the more I hear it, the more it grows. ‘Desert Fun’ is more 80s-influenced indiepop, a dark surf music (“fun, fun in the desert sun”) constantly sparking with spiky notes like a homesick Fire Engines stranded in California, if that were possible. Definitely a grower.
