Surf 4 Fuzz EP

Trev claims that this Japanese band are “the bastard son of My Bloody Valentine” but I’d demand a DNA test as, despite the screams of feedback at the start of ‘You Should Be Your Light’, this definitely owes its parentage to the melodic noise-rock of Husker Du and Dinosaur Jr. It’s the bracing sort of sweet noise guaranteed to blow away any Christmas party or post-Xmas hangover headaches for sure. We’re on safer ground with ‘Surf On’, which clearly bows to the Jesus and Mary Chain, the guitars constantly sweetly groaning with fuzz. Excellent stuff, and only 120 copies of this one so don’t be slow.
