Sleeping In The Backseat Fortuna Pop! Records 7"

This is Duncan Barrett’s driving song, although he can’t drive, so all the action happens when the car (and the actors) are motionless. With lead vocals from Laura Kovic, ‘Sleeping…’ is catchy and full of romantic notes, as well as sounding expansive and well-arranged, even down to the blast of Springsteen-ian saxophone at the end. Even if Duncan can't drive you, you might choose the song's infectious rhythms as the perfect accompaniment to your own motoring. ‘Hilton Ferry’, on the other hand, is raw and messy, the chaotic sound of the city and the river Thames with little blasts of melody peeking out. If Isle of Dogs was a good album, and the recent Mysteries a better one, we look forward to hearing what their best sounds like.
