Wand
Stolen Footsteps Drag City Records, download only

Article written by Ged M - Aug 24, 2015

Wand’s new single is brilliant but a world apart from the Golem album released last March. The cover of Gary Numan’s ‘M.E.’ (a single released on previous label In The Red) recently should have been a good indication of that new direction. ‘Stolen Footsteps’ is simple, melodic synth-pop redolent of 80s titans like Numan, Foxx-era Ultravox and OMD, that explodes with a magnificent chorus and waves of synths, taking up residence in your head. You’ll be humming that chorus line for weeks! Wand are a fascinating, shape-shifting band whose 1000 Days (coming in September) promises more bold new sounds.
